Over the past ten years I have taken a serious interest in photography. Scott Kelby and his books on digital photography have been my biggest source of inspiration and knowledge. A historic day

Barack Obama will be sworn in as the first black president just days before the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth, and his inauguration theme will reflect the timing: "A New Birth Of Freedom," a phrase from the Gettysburg Address. I have taken the day off from work at One to One to witness this historic day with my family.

I am proud that my boys are asking so many questions as they watch the CNN broadcast: “why so may African Americans in the mall?”; “why so much celebration?”; “why is this historic?”

Waterville Valley

Over the holiday break the boys and I took to the slopes at Waterville Valley in New Hampshire. This was their first time on skis and I was surprised by how quickly they acclimated to their boots, skis, and to the slopes. They spent 2 hours in a group lesson that, unfortunately, was not much to their liking. However, after a warm lunch and some rest in the lodge, they took to the bunny slope with reckless abandon.

Frosty

The family woke up yesterday to a blanket of fresh white snow outside. The first this season! The kids were extremely excited and to top things off school was canceled. After snowplowing the driveway, the boys and I tackled the construction of “Frosty”. The snow was wet and perfect for building a snowman. After Frosty was assembled, mom helped with the accessories -- scarf, nose, hat, etc. I have published a photo gallery of pictures that I shot yesterday of Frosty and the boys titled “First Snow December”.
